Physician and Hospital Quality Update

Physician and Hospital Quality: An Inside Look at the Updated Standards

 September 11, 2008 | Online (WebEx)

About the Program

NCQA’s Physician and Hospital Quality (PHQ) standards, which assess how health plans measure and report on the quality and cost of physicians and hospitals, were updated in late June.  The new standards for certification emphasize the use of standardized, third-party measures such as those endorsed by the National Quality Forum (NQF) when measuring physician performance and promote methodological standards and transparency.

With the growing interest among purchasers and consumers for reliable, usable information on health care provider performance, many organizations beyond health plans have entered the physician measurement arena; policymakers and regulators are also taking a particularly close look at physician measurement. Join NCQA Vice President for Product Development Patricia Barrett and Assistant Vice President Ann Carson in this 90-minute program to review the new requirements and their implications for organizations that measure and report on health care provider performance.

This update incorporates agreements that came out of action by the New York Attorney General last Fall.
