HIT Vendors Selected for CPC+ Support
August 1, 2016 · Amy Maciejowski
A strong primary care foundation is critical to improving health. In May, CMS took one step further in their effort to improve primary care with the announcement of the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) initiative. CMS announced CPC+ as a continuation on the successful CPC initiative. CPC+ aims to strengthen primary care throughout the country by bringing together multiple payers to assist practices as they transform into medical homes.
CMS’ goal with the CPC+ model is to “improve the quality of care patients receive, improve patients’ health and spend health care dollars more wisely.”
Naturally, NCQA supports the CPC+ model and encourages practices to apply. CPC+ offers an opportunity to strengthen our primary care system and support practices that are taking the next step toward delivering higher quality care.
Transforming a practice to a medical home takes a lot of time and commitment. The CPC+ model offers great opportunities for assistance. CMS has released a list of health information technology (HIT) vendors that have committed to supporting practices through the HIT requirements in CPC+ Track 2.
Good News
Eleven NCQA Prevalidated Vendors are on the CMS list. These vendors will not only help practices apply for CPC+, but can also ease administrative burden for practices seeking NCQA PCMH or PCSP Recognition. NCQA reviews prevalidated systems to assess their functionality in meeting PCMH and PCSP factors. If a practice uses a prevalidated vendor that received automatic credit on specific factors, the practice can earn automatic credit for factor requirements, without submitting documentation to NCQA for those factors.
The following NCQA Prevalidated Vendors have pledged to help practices through the CPC+ process:
- Allscripts Healthcare, LLC*
- athenahealth, Inc.*
- Cerner Corporation*
- eClinicalWorks*
- GE Centricity*
- Greenway Health*
- HealthFusion Inc.*
- Healthify, Inc.
- M3 Information
- NextGen Healthcare*
- Phytel* (Housed in CMS’ list under the IBM Watson Health suite)
- Wellcentive
*Certified for Meaningful Use
