Webinar: Adult Immunization Status (AIS) and Prenatal Immunization Status (PRS) HEDIS^® 2019 Measures

On February 27, 2019, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) hosted a webinar covering the first-year HEDIS^® quality measures for Adult Immunization Status (AIS) and Prenatal Immunization Status (PRS).

These measures were introduced in HEDIS 2019. AIS measures the percentage of adults 19 years and older who are up to date on recommended routine vaccines for influenza, tetanus and diphtheria (Td) or tetanus, Tdap, herpes zoster and pneumococcal. PRS measures the percentage of deliveries in the measurement period in which women received influenza and tetanus, diphtheria toxoids and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccinations.

The plan data collected for the AIS measure include commercial, Medicare and Medicaid populations while the data collected for the PRS measure include commercial and Medicaid populations. Thus, this webinar is relevant to any organization that reports HEDIS.

These measures are among the first HEDIS measures utilizing Electronic Clinical Data Systems (ECDS) for data collection. This innovative use of electronic clinical data to document high-quality patient care demonstrates plans’ commitment to evidence-based practice. Organizations that report ECDS for HEDIS encourage sharing and interoperability of health data systems and ensure that the information needed to provide high-quality services reaches the right people when it is most useful.

Lindsey M. Roth, MPP, is a Senior Research Associate in the Performance Measurement department at NCQA. She serves as a project manager for the maintenance and development of quality performance measures for NCQA. Specifically, Lindsey focuses on measure development for HEDIS^® and other programs in the areas of cancer, prevention and women’s health. Lindsey holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Policy from the American University in Washington, DC.
