NCQA seeks the public’s feedback on proposed changes to NCQA Health Plan Accreditation (HPA). This is an opportunity for insurers, consumers, employers and other stakeholders to advise NCQA on the main way the organization evaluates health plans.
NCQA is updating the HPA program to incentivize plans to focus on value-based strategies. Proposed changes include scoring additional measures for the 2016 reporting year from the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) and Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Study (CAHPS®) suite to better evaluate and differentiate health plan performance.
This public comment is specifically intended for input on adding HEDIS and CAHPS measures to Health Plan Accreditation. A second public comment for updates to Health Plan Accreditation standards will take place in March 2015.
An important part of developing and updating measures required by NCQA is the opportunity for the public to review proposed revisions and to offer support as well as to recommend changes or clarifications. NCQA reviews every message received during public comment, synthesizes themes and presents comments to NCQA’s Committee on Performance Measurement and Board of Directors for deliberation.
