Introduction to Digital Quality Transition

In the digital age, with data standards emerging and more data readily available, there’s the opportunity to make measurement more accessible and actionable closer to the point of care to help better manage populations, support more equitable care and drive outcomes.

NCQA is again leading the charge in health care quality, this time in the digital quality space. NCQA is expanding its offerings to support and drive adoption of digital quality to make the digital quality ecosystem into one that makes quality more efficient, accurate, timely and relevant. As critical action for advancement, NCQA is preparing stakeholders for the digital transition of quality measures.

This course with a 12-unit series of self-paced learning modules, provides a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of digital quality and the transition to digital quality operations. As NCQA continues to advance digital quality transformation, stakeholders may use this course as a resource for planning their digital quality transition efforts.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for any professional with a stake in healthcare quality and the transition to digital quality measurement. However, this course is considered critical for quality and data reporting professional across health plans, health systems, and their delegates.

Faculty

Allison Lance

Allison Lance serves as the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Director of Digital Quality Community. In this role, she cultivates a dynamic coalition of health quality measurement professionals, as well as leads development of the organization’s strategic plan for digital advancement. The Digital Hub and Playbook for Digital Transition serves as a roadmap for digitalizing health quality measures to be in alignment with CMS ad Interoperability Standards.

 Allison brings 20 years of experience across the health care ecosystem, from payers to health IT to care delivery. Her expertise ranges from market strategy and population health to quality improvement and interoperability. Prior to her role at NCQA, she worked in market intelligence at one of the world’s leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms.

 Allison holds a Master in Health Care Administration (MHA) from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor in Human Resources Management from Missouri State University. She currently resides with her family in Chievres Belgium, where she enjoys traveling and volunteers with the military family community.  

Michael Klotz 

Michael Klotz is a three-time digital health entrepreneur, consultant and widely recognized leader in digital quality and clinical data exchange (interoperability). He is a big advocate of standardization, streamlining and automation of healthcare processes and is passionate about making FHIR-based interoperability and digital quality measures a reality for the entire US healthcare system.

 He is the Founder and CEO of Velox Health Metadata, Inc., which enables the seamless exchange of standards-based clinical data securely and in real-time between healthcare stakeholders including payers, providers and patients.

 Michael also consults with organizations on product, platform and go-to-market strategy. In that role, he has been the leading contributor to NCQA’s Digital Quality Transition Playbook since 2021.

 Michael has been in Healthcare IT and Digital Health for over 15 years. In 2011, he founded Health Data Vision (now Reveleer), the first true SaaS platform company that streamlined and automated medical records reviews for quality reporting and risk adjustment use cases.

Before getting involved in healthcare IT, Michael worked as a consultant implementing large enterprise systems. In 2002 he founded a software consultancy focused on business process automation and business intelligence, which he sold in 2008. During that time, he also worked closely with Microsoft product divisions as an advisor. 

Michael holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from his native Austria and a business degree from the University of Southern California.
