Driving Quality and Accountability in Behavioral Health
NCQA recognizes the critical role behavioral health, mental health conditions and substance use disorders play in a person’s overall health, and the need for better quality measurement and improved access to care across the behavioral health service continuum.
NCQA is using our experience and capacity as a national accreditor to expand our behavioral health Accreditation and Recognition products. We accredit MBHOs and certified community behavioral health centers (CCBHC), and we incorporated behavioral health measures into HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set). Many Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance plans use HEDIS in quality reporting and value-based purchasing.
A Roadmap to Quality Care for CCBHCs
CCBHCs are a vital part of the behavioral health safety net, offering 24/7 crisis services and timely access to outpatient care for an estimated 3 million individuals.
As states address the national behavioral health crisis, they need support in scaling the CCBHC model to help ensure patients have access to integrated, evidence-based care.
Our CCBHC Accreditation program helps behavioral health organizations streamline the SAMHSA certification process through a standardized survey and hands-on support, easing state oversight burden and expanding access to behavioral health services for underserved populations.
