WASHINGTON, DC—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is proud to announce the newest member of its board of directors: Brent Pawlecki, MD, MMM, Chief Health Officer for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
NCQA is governed by an independent board of directors which comprises 15 members and the NCQA president. Directors represent diverse perspectives, with experience as purchasers, clinicians, public policy experts, consumer advocates and health system leaders. Each brings extensive experience in working to improve health care through quality measurement, delivery system reform and transparency.
Dr. Pawlecki has been a voting member on NCQA’s Committee on Performance Measurement, where he helped advance and approve many of NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) measures, and has served on the NCQA Employer Advisory Council.
“Dr. Pawlecki is known for his holistic perspective on addressing employee health needs, his deep understanding of performance measurement and his belief in the strong link between employee health and corporate performance,” said NCQA president, Margaret E. O’Kane. “We are excited to have him on the board and look forward to his continuing contribution to our work addressing the issues of quality and accountability in health care.”
“The employers of our nation are a core component in the health care system and the growth of our nation, as work plays an important role in a person’s sense of self, contribution to society and wellbeing,” states Dr. Pawlecki. “Employers seek a healthy, engaged and productive workforce, and they seek quality and improvement to drive value in their health care investment. I am honored and excited to join the board of this distinguished organization, whose mission strives to improve health, quality of care and the overall health care system.”
At Goodyear, Dr. Pawlecki is responsible for developing the company’s global health strategy. In 2015 he received the Global Leadership in Corporate Health Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and the National Business Group on Health®, recognizing his longstanding dedication to workplace health.
