WASHINGTON, DC—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is proud to announce a new addition to its Board of Directors—John Glaser, PhD, Senior Vice President of population health at Cerner.
Glaser, whose heath information technology career spans more than 30 years, is a leader in the health care industry and in academia, where he is on the faculty at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the Medical University of South Carolina, the School of Biomedical Informatics at the Texas Health Science Center and the Harvard School of Public Health.
“With a focus on population health technology and deep experience in the strategic application of IT in health care, John will play an important role on the NCQA Board,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, NCQA president. “We are excited to have him join our board at a time when information technology is a critical component in improving health care quality.”
“I’m honored to sit on the NCQA Board, which is committed to helping transform the health care delivery system,” said Glaser. “The industry continues to evolve at a remarkable pace and health IT is the foundation that will enable providers to monitor, predict and improve outcomes in their communities.”
NCQA is governed by an independent board of directors composed of 16 members and the NCQA president. The board includes representatives from purchasers, clinicians, public policy experts, consumer groups and health systems, representing a multi-stakeholder perspective for improving health care system quality through delivery system reform and transparency.
