Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory condition that imposes a high burden on the patient and on the health care system. In 2018, NCQA hosted a working group at the 2018 Digital Quality Summit. During a subsequent NCQA roundtable, key opinion leaders in RA treatment, patient advocacy and digital measures discussed issues in outcome measurement and care delivery in this important therapeutic area.
Findings from the two meetings are summarized in the white paper, Rheumatoid Arthritis: Transforming Care Delivery to a Value-Based Model, which explores:
- Underutilization of disease activity assessment tools and development of RA-specific outcome measures to optimize patient-centered treatment, evidence-based care and outcomes for people living with RA.
- Technological challenges associated with measuring and reporting outcomes.
- Development and implementation of alternative payment models that support patient-centered, value-based care.
NCQA created this white paper with generous sponsorship from Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies.
